My first paper based Ruby readings were The Ruby Way and Beginning Ruby. Both were excellent books which I recommend even today. While the Ruby Way was very good at teaching the self explanatory scope, I found Peters book to be very helpful to learn Ruby as a newcomer. Look forward to get my hands on the new edition.
